Public Notice - Proposed Revisions to Housing Choice Voucher Utility Allowances
Notice: Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Utility Allowance Revisions
In accordance with 24 CFR 982.517, Lucas Metropolitan Housing (LMH) must review its schedule of utility allowances each year and must revise the schedule if there has been a change of 10 percent or more in any utility rate since the last time the allowance for that utility was revised.
A comparison of the utility providers' rates and charges was conducted and indicated a greater than 10% change in utility rates and charges since the 2020 study was conducted. Therefore, LMH is revising its utility allowances.

The Utility Allowance Schedules for Toledo, Sylvania, and Maumee, Ohio are applicable to Lucas, Wood, and Fulton counties.
In accordance with 24 CFR 982.517(e), on request from a family that includes a person with disabilities, the PHA must approve a utility allowance which is higher than the applicable amount on the utility allowance schedule if a higher utility allowance is needed as a reasonable accommodation in accordance with 24 CFR part 8 to make the program accessible to and usable by the family member with a disability.
Proposed effective date for revised utility allowances: January 1, 2022.
