LMHA WARNS: BEWARE OF FRAUDULENT SECTION 8 APPLICATIONS

(April 7, 2017) - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)'s Section 8 Rental Certificate Program gives funding to local government housing authorities. Local authorities issue housing choice vouchers to help people find housing in privately-owned rental units. Within NW Ohio and parts of Michigan, Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority (LMHA) issues housing vouchers via a waiting list and automated lottery selection.

Due to recent fraudulent Section 8 advertisements, LMHA warns to be aware of unofficial fee-based housing applications. There is no fee to register during LMHA Housing Choice Voucher Program waiting list lottery enrollment period.
