Section 3

The Section 3 program is a provision of the Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Act of 1968 that helps foster local economic development, neighborhood economic improvement, and individual self-sufficiency.

Particular emphasis shall be directed toward those residents who are recipients of government assistance for housing, and to businesses that provide economic opportunities to low  and very low-income persons.  

The Lucas Metropolitan Housing Authority shares and adopts this purpose for the benefit of its residents, other Section 3 residents and certain businesses that provide opportunities to those residents.  Review the LMHA Section 3 Policy and Procedures.

Please note: To become qualified each business or individual must provide a copy of their lease or their employee’s lease if they are living in low-income housing.  If not living in low-income housing, a copy of all persons being claimed as Section 3 status must provide a copy of their most recent tax return.
